Desk Lamp (IDEA 292)
A desk lamp using a hand-soldered custom circuit board and components made with a waterjet, CNC mill, lathe, 3D printer, and other hand tools.
For this project, we were required to create a desk lamp with a custom circuit board. We were also encouraged to use 3D printing.
I designed a lamp inspired by industrial and midcentury modern aesthetics, and I wanted to use a variety of machines and materials from around the makerspace. After some initial sketches, I arrived at this design with angular metal and wooden forms and internal wiring.
The lampshade and catchall tray are 3D printed wood-filled PLA, the wooden spacers are CNC cut plywood, and the metal sides are waterjet cut aluminum.

Wood Grain
I used a custom modifier in the slicer to achieve a wood grain look in the 3D prints.
