Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing

Courses, medical models, large-format printing, and production molds.

Recycled Wire-Gate Carabiner (IDEA 212)

A carabiner built from the pen clips of empty Uni One pens, with a locking gate and a heat transfer analysis of the plastic weld that holds it together.

Biomechanical Medical Models

3D printed models made with Middlesex Hospital to train obstetricians and to analyze body parts.

Large-Format Delta Printer & Makerspace

Managing Wesleyan's large-format delta printer and supervising the IDEAS makerspace.

Course Instructor: 3D Printing, From Design to Product

A full-credit university course I created and teach every fall semester, where every student builds a printer to keep. The course covers primitive and parametric CAD, how printers work (motion systems and thermal management), building and maintaining printers, writing code and custom slicing profiles, and designing for the 3D printing process.

Mold Tooling: "Allen" Robot

Printed FDM and SLA molds for casting the parts of a small robot, with design iterations, failures, and production data.

Custom 3D Printed Aero Cycling Hardware

An aerodynamic racing setup built at about a tenth of the usual cost.
